Job Summary
The senior researcher is expected to take part in the field work coordination, primary data analysis and contribution to the drafting of the research report which aims to assess the institutional challenges of the current political system in Afghanistan and propose the one which suits the Afghan context. In addition, he/she shall be responsible for supervision of junior researchers and the project team activities. In particular, the senior researcher will lead activities of a research team regarding development of and successful implementation of the road maps for the projects.
Responsibilities
- Conduct literature/policy reviews for a research project
- Conduct desk research and identify the relevant actors to be interviewed;
- Manage junior researchers;
- Develop and maintain research databases;
- Contribute to drafting the research report;
- Ensure accurate and professional research tasks are delivered timely;
- Provide timely information relevant to the projects;
- Prepare research materials and publications;
- Monitor, capture, filter and organize information and data into databases to ensure strategic and valuable information is available for project purpose
- Analyse information and data, and produce briefing papers and reports to support project goals;
- Be able to work under pressure and according to specific and sometimes tight deadlines;
- Manage project teams to develop goals strategies and plans related to specific work areas
- Other ad hoc responsibilities
Qualification And Requirements
- A master’s degree in law and Political Sciences or other related fields from a reputable institution;
At least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience; - Robust research and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to formulate research plan;
- Collect and analyse useful data and information;
- Knowledge of research tools and methodology;
- Reasonable academic background;
- Experience in working within a team environment;
- Strong familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, implementation and oversight
- A self-starter who can work with limited supervision, proactive and has strong communication skills;
- Strong analytical and writing skills;
- Able to interact effectively with a range of researchers, community members and local government actors, NGO actors and development partners;
- Commitment to capacity building of quantitative and qualitative researchers;
- Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently. Can handle multiple tasks effectively and manage time to meet deadlines;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite;
- Excellent command of English essential, Knowledge of Dari/Persian and Pashtu will be an asset. In exceptional cases, the Pashtu language requirement can be waived.
