On March 6, 2022, The Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies held a Twitter Spaces discussion on ‘the role of the United Nations in Afghanistan’. Nasir Ahmad Fayeq, Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the United Nations and Nasir Kayhan, former head of the UNESCO Department of Education in Afghanistan, discussed the United Nation’s activities and the structural corruption in the UN and its impact on Afghanistan pre-August 15, 2021. In this program, former ambassadors, representatives and officials of the United Nations in Afghanistan also expressed their views on the history of the United Nations and the failure and success of the United Nations in Afghanistan.
