On Sunday, March 7, 2021, the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) held a special conversation with Nader Nadery, member of the Peace Negotiation Team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Distinguished politicians, academics, civil society members and media representatives attended the event.
Nader Nadery said that the 'peace process' has not been satisfactory yet because it has not yielded tangible results and the Taliban is not willing to address important issues and is wasting time. Meanwhile, the Taliban have not yet given up on totalitarianism, and if they continue to insist on their position, we will have a difficult path to reach an agreement, he believed.
Nadery added that ceasefire is one of the most important and key issues for the negotiating team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Regarding the role of the countries in the region and the world, Mr. Nadery said that the countries in the region have not lived to their promises because there was no change in the Taliban's position.
