The Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) was pleased to host H.E. Marurits R. Jochems, the NATO Ambassador in Kabul, as part of the “High Tea with the Ambassador” lecture series.
Government officials as well as civil society and academia attended the event.
In his speech, Mr. Jochems addressed NATO’s involvement and continued interest in Afghanistan and the surrounding region. He noted that the NATO favored a stable Afghanistan and would provide support to reach that goal. Bilateral interests, regional cooperation, NATO involvement in Afghanistan, the upcoming 2014 Afghan presidential election and more cooperation with Afghan government were among the main topics discussed in the meeting. Following his address, Mr. Jochems answered questions from the guests.
